This is a high-visibility role for a commercially minded professional who can turn market intelligence into strategy. You will sit at the heart of the company's growth agenda across Nigeria and Ghana, reading the economic and political landscape, identifying the partners and opportunities that matter, and reporting insight directly to the Business Development Manager, the regional leadership team and the Tokyo headquarters. RESPONSIBILITIES
New Business Development & Market Intelligence
- Analyse the economic, political and regulatory environment across Nigeria and Ghana, assessing the impact on operations and identifying growth opportunities.
- Track changes in government policy, regulation and macroeconomic conditions, and translate them into clear implications for the business.
- Research and identify local partners aligned with the company's strategic objectives and capable of supporting business development and investment.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of business strategies across short and long-term horizons, applying a sound understanding of supply chain and procurement.
Affiliate Support & Strategic Alliances
- Develop a strong understanding of affiliates' strategies and business models and their synergy with the wider group.
- Investigate the market for affiliate expansion opportunities in Nigeria and Ghana, and engage strategic partners for joint business development.
Company Representation & Relationship Building
- Conduct interviews and sector research following developments affecting major companies, government institutions and multilateral agencies.
- Produce intelligence reports for the Managing Director, regional management and Tokyo headquarters.
- Build and maintain a strong network across the private and public sectors, representing the company at networking events to promote its presence and capabilities.
Ongoing Business & Investment Projects
- Identify and follow up on business partners and investment projects across the company's priority sectors in Nigeria and Ghana.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A relevant degree in Management Science, Economics, Finance, Engineering or a related field. An MSc or MBA is an added advantage.
- Four to seven years' experience in business development within a related field.
- Strong research, analytical and organisational capabilities, with a proactive, self-directed approach.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and across cultures.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
