We have been engaged to identify a Business Strategy and Intelligence Officer to drive the growth of our multinational trading organisation with a global presence in Europe, Middle East, Asia, The Americas and Sub-Sahara Africa.
Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for leading the market intelligence through data collection, interviews, research and reports that support their expansion and those of their affiliates in Nigeria and neighbouring countries. The result of this intelligence will enable you to build winning strategies that when executed will demonstrate tangible results.
We are looking for someone who is data-driven demonstrates the natural ability to think outside of the box, look for opportunities like a needle in a haystack, and leverage on their expertise to gain results.
The ideal candidate would be someone with impeccable communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels especially C-Level executives. The ability to demonstrate persuasive negotiation skills and provide positive closure for our international client and their affiliates is essential in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
New business development and Business Intelligence
- Conduct research and identify potential new business opportunities based on HQ strategy and priorities;
- Conducting market research to identify new opportunities in the Nigerian market and neighbouring countries.
- Keep effective communication by conducting interviews following a sectorial development or news lead on a relevant major company, government institution or multilateral agency to understand business environment and upcoming business opportunities.
- Carry out thorough analysis of the economic and political environment, assessing possible impacts on business operations and growth opportunities. This includes understanding and tracking changes in government policy, regulatory environment, and macroeconomic conditions.
- Maintain good business network among the private and public sectors in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.
- Conduct research to identify potential local partners who align with the company’s strategic objectives and possess the capabilities and resources to facilitate business development and potential investment.
- Aid in the formulation and execution of business strategies to achieve short and long-term goals
- Foster relationships with stakeholders, clients, and partners and participate in networking events to promote the company’s presence and capabilities.
Provide Support for Affiliates
- Develop understanding of business models and strategies of affiliate companies
- Investigate the market for potential business interests for affiliates of Mitsubishi Corporation
- Provide feedback to GM on the identified opportunities for further discussion and follow-up with the affiliates.
Report and follow up on tenders.
- Identify tenders and report of HQ’s interest;
- Approach and retrieve relevant information for HQ conduct a decision regarding the tender; Follow up and report on each stage of the tender;
- Provider necessary support on documentation preparation for tender participation.
- Prepare regular reports detailing market trends, business intelligence insights, potential partners identified, and the impacts of economic and political changes on the company’s operations.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Relevant degree or qualification in one of the following: Business Management, Economics or Finance, Engineering; or any other related field
- 3-5 years’ work experience in areas such as business research, Business Strategy, and Development
- Knowledge of statistical and data packages
- Intermediate level in working with software packages such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Projects.
- Immaculate written and oral communication skills with experience writing tender and bidding documents.
- Proactive with good research and organizational capabilities.
- Great negotiation skills capable of working within a team.
