Legal Consultant - Strategic Projects - Accra, Ghana

Transquisite Consulting Group is an international consultancy operating across the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Saharan Africa. As part of a significant expansion of our consultancy project portfolio in Ghana, delivered in collaboration with established in-country strategic partners, we are seeking a Legal Consultant to provide legal structure, assurance and commercial protection across a growing portfolio of  engagements spanning both the private and public sectors.

This is not a conventional counsel appointment. The successful candidate will work directly with the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Africa and the CEO, shaping how engagements are contracted, governed and protected across the West Africa Corridor. The portfolio spans multiple sectors and both private and public sector clients, and the role calls for a professional who understands that in a partnership-led business, sound legal architecture is what allows commercial ambition to move at pace.

Role Overview

The Legal Consultant will serve as the legal cornerstone of Transquisite's Ghana project portfolio. Working alongside the Business Analyst, Project Manager, Market Research Consultant and Project Finance Manager, the successful candidate will structure and review contracts, partnership agreements and revenue share arrangements, advise on regulatory and licensing matters, and ensure that every engagement, whether with a private enterprise or a public institution, is legally sound from proposal through to close.

Transquisite operates a lean management environment: structures are flat, access to leadership is direct, and every team member is expected to own outcomes rather than tasks. Operating on a rolling three-month contract, the role demands immediate impact, moving between contract drafting, regulatory advisory, public procurement considerations and governance support, often within the same week, and handling information of a highly confidential and commercially sensitive nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, consultancy agreements, partnership arrangements and revenue share structures across all Ghana engagements, ensuring each Project Protocol is legally sound before approval.
  • Advise on the legal and regulatory requirements of engagements across both the private and public sectors, including licensing, permits and sector-specific compliance.
  • Guide the business through public procurement processes and tender requirements where engagements involve government ministries, agencies or state-owned enterprises.
  • Structure and document collaborative delivery arrangements with in-country strategic partners, protecting Transquisite's commercial position and intellectual property.
  • Advise on corporate, employment and engagement-structure considerations affecting project delivery in Ghana, instructing specialist external counsel where required.
  • Manage legal risk across live projects, identifying exposures early and recommending practical, commercially proportionate mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements in Ghana and the United Kingdom across all engagements and documentation.
  • Support dispute avoidance and resolution, managing pre-action correspondence and negotiation, and escalating to external counsel where necessary.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation standards, contract registers and audit trails across all engagements, consistent with Transquisite's confidentiality obligations.
  • Contribute legal insight to business development activity, including proposals, pitches and commercial negotiations across the West Africa Corridor.

Candidate Profile

  • A qualifying law degree and admission to the Ghana Bar with a current licence to practise are required. A postgraduate qualification in commercial, projects or public procurement law is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of five years of post-qualification experience in commercial or projects-focused legal practice, gained in private practice, in-house or within a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of advising on engagements involving both private sector clients and public institutions, including familiarity with Ghana's public procurement framework.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with a record of structuring multi-party and cross-border commercial arrangements.
  • Sound working knowledge of the Ghanaian regulatory and licensing landscape, with familiarity across the wider West African market considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience of working within a lean management environment, comfortable with flat structures, broad ownership, minimal supervision and resource-efficient ways of working.
  • Proven ability to engage credibly with executive-level stakeholders, partners and public officials, presenting legal analysis as clear, commercially grounded advice.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach that balances legal protection with commercial momentum.
  • Exceptional written English and document craftsmanship, with the judgment to handle highly confidential material appropriately.
  • Available to commence at short notice and based in, or able to work from, Accra with travel as required.

Why This Opportunity is Unique

  • Operate at the centre of Transquisite's Ghana expansion at its formative stage, with the opportunity to build the legal architecture of a growing cross-sector portfolio.
  • Report directly to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Africa and the CEO, with exposure to commercial decision-making that legal advisers rarely access this early.
  • Work across the West Africa Corridor on genuinely cross-border engagements spanning the United Kingdom, Nigeria and Ghana, across both the private and public sectors.
  • A lean, entrepreneurial operating environment where contribution is visible, bureaucracy is minimal and performance is rewarded with continuity and expanded responsibility.
