Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Business Strategy Officer - Lagos, Nigeria

We have been exclusively retained to recruit a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Business Strategy Officer (official title: Business Development Assistant Manager) for a strategic role focused on business development and market intelligence in Nigeria and Ghana. This position will play a critical role in driving growth across key sectors, such as chemicals, agriculture, and mobility, while supporting the expansion of the company’s regional affiliates.

Our client is a highly respected Japanese multinational with a strong operational presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Known for its commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and long-term strategic partnerships, the company is seeking a proactive and analytically minded professional to join its Nigerian office and contribute to its ongoing regional growth agenda.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. New Business Development & Intelligence Gathering
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the Nigerian and Ghanaian economic and political environment and assess its impact on business growth.
  • Track regulatory developments and policy shifts relevant to prioritised sectors: chemicals, agriculture, mobility, and others.
  • Build and maintain strong networks within both public and private sectors.
  • Research and recommend local partners aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of long-term business strategies.
  1. Affiliate & Strategic Partner Support
  • Analyse affiliate strategies and business models to identify potential synergies.
  • Drive collaborative market development initiatives with affiliates and strategic partners.
  • Investigate expansion opportunities and market trends in Nigeria and Ghana.
  1. Corporate Representation & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Represent the company in key meetings with government agencies, companies, and multilateral institutions.
  • Produce timely intelligence reports for senior leadership (MD, regional office, Tokyo HQ).
  • Engage in active relationship-building and attend industry networking events.
  1. Operational Project Support
  • Monitor ongoing partnerships and investment projects within key sectors.
  • Identify and nurture potential investment opportunities aligned with business priorities.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering or a related field. MSc or MBA is a plus.
  • 4–7 years’ professional experience in business development, corporate strategy, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical, research, and negotiation skills.
  • Deep understanding of supply chains, procurement, and market intelligence methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly proactive and collaborative team player.
